The couple next door, Syrup sponge pudding and toilet training #littleloves

Last weekend saw us spontaneously deciding to freshen up the kitchen. We have replaced the magnolia with white and it now feels so much bigger and brighter. We were very limited as to what we could do as we vent but it looks much better just having a fresh coat of paint and some new appliances.

Then Monday was up on us and it all went down hill from there. This week has been a tough one. Olivia has been quite emotional and shouty and work has been so full on meaning i haven’t had the patience with her i normally do. Which then results in a lot of mum guilt. There have still been lots of good bits and Little Loves presents to perfect opportunity to reflect on them.

Read

I am totally hooked on the couple next door. No matter how tired i have been when i get into bed each night i have read at least one chapter each night. I’m about half way through the book and it seems that the story is all unfolding but i definitely think that there are going to be more twists and turns.

Watched

Geordie Shore and Bake Off have been the only things that i have watched TV wise this week. Some of the bread show stoppers on bake off this week were amazing. I really wouldn’t have the patience.

Made

Syrup sponge pudding! This has got to be one of my all time favourite puddings and it’s so easy to make. I make up the mixture and then let it cook while we are eating our dinner so that we can get stuck in as soon as it comes out of the oven. Not going to lie we may have had it a few times in the last couple of weeks. On the last occasion i did get a bit carried away with the syrup.

This week we also made a bit of a mess of each others faces. Olivia loves mark-making so this week we had a go at some face painting. We were both ‘cats’. Olivia’s cat face actually looked quite good until she decided to draw all over her own face as well as mine. Im just hoping she now doesn’t try and use normally pens to draw all over herself.

Heard

The great news that Olivia had actually used the toilet at nursery. She has been using the toilet and potty on and off at home for a while now. But nursery has been a whole different story. I’m hoping when I’m off work for a few days next week that i can get her dry during the day.

Wore

Nothing to report here clothes wise this week. I have recently had a full head of blonde and copper highlights though so i have been wearing my hair down a lot more.

Lastly

This weekend we have my brother in law, his wife and children staying with. It’s going to be pretty hectic with 4 children 5 and under but we have lots of family fun planned. Hopefully the weather works in our favour. This is England after all though so we shall see.

  1. Toilet training sounds like one of the more difficult aspects of parenting and I’m a little bit anxious about it. In reality my son has been good about doing things in his own time and when he’s ready (at two and a quarter he seems to be giving up his dummy by himself, at least during the day), so I know it’s best not to rush these things. He’s settling into nursery at the moment so I think we’ll see where we’re at after Christmas with his speech and when he’s able to communicate ‘toilet business’ I guess we’ll see what he wants to do. It’s all fun and games!

  2. Hope you enjoyed the company for the weekend. I wish I could do face painting my kids both breaking out when we do it on them for some reason. Bless. So fun. Love the hair so classy and stylish. That pudding looks delicious. I loved the book couple next door. I just finished The Little Book of Lykke and started Lie With Me…. first one is great and some things I want to implement second book half way not sure I like where it’s headed. #littleloves
