Days Out

Living Coasts, Decoy and Beach Walks – Devon Adventures

We had a great time away in Devon last week, squeezing in lots of adventures. We love getting out and about. Whether it’s to one of the beaches, a park or one of the local attractions.

Beach Walks

While we were away we visited both Torquay and Paignton beach. Olivia had a great time paddling in the sea. Whilst in Paignton we also visited the Geopark. Olivia had a great time playing on the slides and swings. You really cant beat a nice refreshing walk along the beach.

Living Coasts

My Mum, Olivia and I also had a girly day visiting Living Coasts, coastal zoo. Although it was a rather soggy day we still enjoyed our time. It was great watching the Fur Seal’s be fed. Olivia stood for a long time mesmerised by them. Another high light for her was the small soft play area. It was a great place to hide away from the rain. She loved going down the slide into the pool ball, even thought she struggled to get back out again.

Decoy Country Park

We started off our visit to Decoy with a play in the park. Olivia loved it as there were only a couple of other children there when we arrived so she was able to do as she pleased. We then ventured off for a walk around the lake. We opted not to take the pram so were on the look out for things to distract Olivia from being asked to be carried and encourage her to walk. She really enjoyed getting up close to some ducks with daddy and sitting on the wood carved bench. Although it was a little tricky stopping herself from falling off. She also wanted to go in one of the tree’s so had a little perch on one of the branches.

There are so many lovely places to visit in Devon. However long we visit for it’s never enough time. We never manage to fit in seeing everybody that we want to. Its so hard to get the balance of seeing everyone, visiting places we love and making the most of our time together away from the hustle and bustle of our every day lives.

  1. Great photos! I’ve never been to Devon but we’re considering it this year, especially as the children are older and should be able to cope with a long car journey. It certainly looks like there’s plenty to do and see. #countrykids

  2. I know just what you mean about trying to fit everything and everyone in. We have just the same issue going to East Sussex where Nick was brought up. The kids love Brighton and yet we have family to see too. The living Coasts is something I’m sure we have been to before, right on the cliff edge of Torquay? I don’t remember much about it apart from wishing we had the kids with us at the time! Watching Olivia watching the seals is perhaps my favourite photo. Sounds like a lovely family break.

  3. Aww it looks like you had a lovely time! We have the same problem when we go up to Yorkshire. All of our family are there and we just spend all our time driving and visiting so we never get chance to go out and explore. It looks like you had a nice balance, I must take note! #countrykids
