Dropping the Dummy

Our house has now been a dummy free zone for two months. No more games of hunt the dummy for us. Or having to pull over to find her dropped dummy in the car.

It actually turned out to be so easy and now I’m thinking why didn’t we do it sooner. We have joked with Olivia about it before saying to  put her dummies in the bin or give them to the horses.

Then one day i just went for it. I told her it was time to put her dummies in the bin and got her to help me. Off we trotted to the kitchen bin and in they went. We haven’t looked back since. Don’t get me wrong on over the first few days she would occasionally ask for her dummy and does every now and again when she is really upset. But she has done so well and I’m so glad now that we made the decision to let her have a dummy and got rid of them when we did.

I see so many children with sore thumbs were they still suck them and defiantly believe that its easier to wean children off of a dummy. Its each to their own though, what works for one doesn’t for another and i would never judge.
